Elden Ring Runes is a little different, something some developers can be able to learn from considering how profitable the game has been for FromSoft since its inception. An experienced UI engineer from Blizzard Entertainment, named Valentine Powell pretty much echoed that sentiment in a short tweet. Dias pointed out that unlike other open-world games, the Elden Ring map does not constantly update to reflect your most recent developments, but it offers tools to allow you to mark it up with your fingers.
However, the minimalist UI compliments Elden Ring's strength as an exploration game that is open to the world. The minimal HUD allows players to stroll through the Lands Between unimpeded by objective markers or overly-detailed icons. It's easy to get lost and not feel the pressure of getting through the task of defeating the boss. It's relaxing and, specifically, reinvigorating because the game trusts that you'll find your way whether by intuition, guides, observation, or all three.
